Weigh in: Is this what we want?
As we're approaching another month end/beginning I wanted to hear what you think. Are the challenges helpful/inspiring? Should we keep on with it? Or would you rather just post individual posts saying what your goals are (with links/descriptions if possible so others can join in if they want) for the month? Do you like having the recipe recommendations or should I just stick to crafts?

I like what we have been doing. I have been so busy lately that I feel like I haven't had time to really work on some of the crafts that I want to from our monthly challenges. I still go back and use some of the refrences every now and then and hope to do them in the future. I think I am ready for the summer break :) I like the recipe recommendations, even though I haven't tried all of them, I have filed them away in my brain to use later. Maybe we should stick with this for at least a few more months and then maybe evaluate again and we can be thinking about ways we might want to change it. I think we are getting a nice stash of some of our best ideas/links even if we don't get our crafts done in that specific month. I don't know...what does everyone else think? Sometimes I think I say too much and post too much and everyone might just be sick of me :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. (speaking of never being able to shut my yapper) Celia you have been doing the majority of the work and I think you are doing a great job, and if you feel like you are being overwhelmed with it then maybe we need to simplify or take turns coming up with projects each month.
ReplyDeleteI personally have not done of the ideas that have been posted. However, I do like reading about them and seeing what you girls have done. And like Maren said, I will stash the ideas away for when I feel more inclined to spend time crafting. I think however you do things is great!
ReplyDeleteI'll just keep doing what I've been doing then. Even if we don't complete it within the month, you're right that it's a good resource we can refer back to.
ReplyDeleteOH, and now that we're somewhat on the subject, do you have any goals in mind for June? Father's day? Fourth of July crafts? Any personal projects you want to complete or start? Do you want to see a specific type of food, or am I just randomly selecting a tried and true "favorite" of mine?
ReplyDeleteI was really grateful for the recipe organization goal this month. I havent finished it, but I made a list of all my meals (I already had 30) and have referred to it in meal planning.
ReplyDeleteHearing about others' experiences with sewing around kids made me brave enough to try at it and now Ruth is really excited about sewing. We have a plastic needle that she uses and she's been going at it.
Oh, and I made some of Will's old T shirts into shirts for Rex for his birthday this week. And then I made some more of that granola this week, too. I've been wanting to try some different bread recipes, too, so I'm will look back at those soon. I'm really glad to have this. Thanks for organizing it, Celia!
Here's something I finished recently that others might be interested in (this is my first ever crochet project and I loved it- I did an octopus):

You can get the patterns free when you sign up on lionbrand here:

Also, I have a whole wheat tortilla recipe that uses olive oil that I love(its my staple now): http://www.asksasha.com/Healthy-Cooking/Homemade-Whole-Wheat-Tortillas-Recipe.html
Those crochet patterns are so cute. If I crocheted I'd totally try one. =)
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm glad these have been helpful inspiration. Thanks for the tortilla link. I'll have to try it sometime.
As a matter of fact, maybe I'll have that be the recipe recommendation this month. =)
ReplyDeleteYay Lisa! I'm so glad you are crocheting!! I love it. You might be interested in signing up on Ravelry too. They have a lot of neat projects/patterns and inpiration. I am dying to start making a quilt for M. (http://www.rosylittlethings.com/crochetsunshine.html) or a hexagon one. I think I need just a few more colors though before I begin.
ReplyDeleteThe tortilla recipe sounds yummy! I would be interested in trying it as well. I've also wondered if you would want to include pizza recipes one month. I use your Jay's signature pizza recipe all the time and I have also found some good pizza sauce recipes since I never seem to have any on hand.
Is it really a new month already?! Father's day always stumps me but I thought this might be fun. I dunno. (http://atsecondstreet.blogspot.com/2010/03/food-face-how-to.html). P drew on a plate at preschool and traced his hand on it as well and brought it home for mother's day and it is his favorite plate. It's my favorite plate too (even if I don't get a chance to use it)
For the Fourth I might do t-shirts for the kids. Last year I did tye-dye with my SIL but I was thinking this year it might be fun to do some kind of bleach dying. like using a bleach pen to make shapes (stars) or using a spay bottle with bleach/water blend to spray around shapes or do like a stencil. Anyways, just thoughts...
Sorry I haven't commented, I have read the main post and browsed the comments, I can make a real comment probably on Sunday. Things are crazy here for now, I think the blog is great and I love having something that keeps me in touch with you guys.
